NHL reporter refuses to back down after Brad Marchand denies rumor of rift with David Pastrnak
An NHL reporter covering the Bruins is refusing to back down today after Brad Marchand denied a rumor that there is a rift between himself and David Pastrnak.
Last week, Bruins captain Brad Marchand found himself at the center of a controversy.
This is not unusual for Marchand, who is known to make headlines for a multitude of reasons on and off the ice.
Perhaps the media simply gravitates to him more than other players due to his strong personality and on-ice heroics and antics.
After all, what reporter wouldn't want to keep a close eye on the player known for licking others during NHL games?
This particular controversy has been shrouded in mystery though.
It all started when WEEI radio host Rich Keefe claimed that there was a rift developing between Marchand and David Pastrnak.
This is the original comment from Rich that sparked the whole thing.
"The locker room is a disaster, and David Pastrnak is at the center of that. David Pastrnak has told the team he doesn't want to be on a line with Brad Marchand, and it may stem from Brad Marchand calling out Pastrnak for some of his play."
Since then, both Marchand and Pastrnak have flatly denied the rumor, claiming that it is nothing more than nonsense and clickbait.
They both say that there is absolutely no truth to it whatsoever. This is what Marchand had to say about the rumor.
"Zero truth to it. The fact that he's going to have a job after this is insane he can go pound sand, go back to the closet where no one knew where he was before."
With all that being said, Keefe has doubled down on his claim, standing by it despite both Bruins forwards coming out and addressing it.
"Stand by it, stand by it. I'm not lying. I'm not making it up."
If Keefe is correct, and something more does eventually come out about this he will certainly look pretty good.
As things stand currently though, it is looking like he stands to be embarrassed more than anything.
At some point, we have to imagine either the truth will be revealed or the rumor will die off as people stop giving it attention.
Either way, the Bruins should be a fun team to watch in the coming weeks not only for the on-ice product, but also the off-ice rumors.
