There was a classy scene in Seattle between the Kraken and Oilers, as Oilers forward Vasily Podkolzin checked in on Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour following his sad announcement of the loss of his brother to ALS.
Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour made the unfortunate announcement recently that his older brother Cameron had tragically passed away because of complications from ALS.
ALS has robbed the hockey community of several members over the years, including former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman and Hall of Famer Borje Salming.
During a recent game at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle between the Kraken and Edmonton Oilers, cameras captured Oilers forward Vasily Podkolzin checking in with Montour in what was a classy moment.
Podkolzin lost his father recently, and went through a period of mourning himself.
On Saturday, Brandon Montour returned to the Kraken lineup, following the death of his older brother, Cameron. Prior to the opening faceoff, Vasily Podkolzin skated over to Montour and appeared to check in with him. Prior to the start of the season, Podkolzin's father unexpectedly died.

Montour, who is in his second year with the Kraken, said that his brother Cameron had a smile on his face until the end upon his return from his leave of absence.
He battled hard ... he was at home battling right until Monday, when it happened. He was smiling right until the end. I'm trying to honour him; I do the best I can every single day regardless of whose here or not. Nothing like that changes, but he's watching down and that's all I can ask. - Brandon Montour
So far this year, Montour has four assists in five games played.
