BREAKING: Connor Bedard Shares A Health Update On National Television
Connor Bedard was selected to be the Blackhawks representative at this year's All-Star game. Unfortunately, he is currently recovering from a broken jaw, so he was not allowed to participate. However, he could give us an update on his status during the festivities.
Bedard Updates His Own Health Status During NHL All-Star Game
The rookie center was on a panel today where he discussed his participation in the skills competition as well as his progress on his jaw injury. He noted that he essentially feels back to normal, but is now simply waiting for the the injury to be properly and fully healed before he makes his return to the lineup.
Connor Bedard, who had jaw surgery on Jan. 8: "I feel good and I feel ready. If it were up to me, I would've been back. But of course, I've got to make sure it's healed and make sure you're not risking anything out there." #Blackhawks
After all, Bedard and the Blackhawks would not want to risk breaking his jaw again. The All-Star also confirmed that there has been no date set for his possible return just yet.
"No specific date. I just gotta see how it's looking but I feel good and I feel ready."
Blackhawks Fall To 32nd Place In Bedard's Absence
Bedard last played on January 5th when he broke his jaw on a hit from Devils defenseman Brendan Smith. Since then, they have gone just 3-8-0, falling to last place in the entire NHL. Despite missing the last 11 games, Bedard still leads the team in scoring with 15 goals and 33 points in 39 games. His rookie season has been filled with many ridiculous moments, such as a lacrosse style goal he scored against the Blues.
As the Blackhawks are still in rebuild mode, Bedard's absence has arguably been beneficial to the team. They now currently have the best odds to draft 1st overall again, which could greatly accelerate the team's rebuild and get them into the playoffs earlier than expected. Stay tuned for more updates on Bedard's status and the Blackhawks as we head into the stretch run of the season.
As seen on Bedard shares an update on his health at the All-Star Game.
