James Anastasio after game 5, sucker-punched a Tampa Bay Lightning fan, which knocked him out cold.
He was shortly later apprehended and charged for his actions. He also assaulted someone else on the way out of the rink who was attempting to stop him from leaving.
Yesterday was James' court hearing and this was his lawyers claim:
Mr. Anastasio repeatedly tried to defuse and de-escalate the situation, one where he was immensely outnumbered and ultimately threatened by a group of highly intoxicated individuals.
While he is anxious for the rest of his story to be revealed, he also trusts and respects the court process. We are confident that James will be vindicated once all the facts come to light.
Anastasio was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of harassment, so his story here in court seems a little inaccurate.
