After an embarrassing 3-2 shootout loss to Team Latvia last night, Team Canada has been piled onto by some players who were confusingly left off the team: Carter Yakemchuk and Zayne Parekh.

Last night was a night to forget for Team Canada for all of the wrong reasons. After being six-goal favorites against Team Latvia, Team Canada shockingly fell 3-2 versus the Latvians in an eight-round shootout thriller.
Obviously, this is one of Canada's most embarrassing moments in recent memory and one they will try to move past as they still have up to five games left to play.
While the players on the roster are trying to look ahead, some of the players snubbed from the team are focused on the fact that the team would have been better with them on it.
Most notably, 2024 Calgary Flames 9th overall pick Zayne Parekh and 2024 Ottawa Senators 7th overall pick Carter Yakemchuk have liked Sportsnet's post for Latvia's upset versus Canada.
One of the main talking points for Team Canada this tournament has been their lack of a powerplay quarterback. They have been using Oliver Bonk on the top unit and Matthew Schaefer, who is now out for the tournament injured, on the second unit.
This simply is not working too well for Canada and fans are discussing how Parekh or Yakemchuk, two of the best offensive defensemen from Canada, were not even invited to camp.
One of the most mind-boggling parts about Bonk quarterbacking the top powerplay unit is that he is not even the powerplay QB for his club team, the London Knights. Sam Dickinson, who is younger and also on Team Canada, is London's powerplay QB.
Clearly, Parekh or Yakemchuk would have been better options to run the powerplay for Team Canada but Dave Cameron decided they were not who he wanted to bring so he left them home.
Now, if Canada goes home medalless for the second year in a row, the decision to leave both Yakemchuk and Parekh off the team would age like milk and fans would demand that coach Dave Cameron never picks a team again.
