Nikita Zadorov unveils his first choice in free agency this off-season
Nikita Zadorov shocked the NHL world this summer when he signed with the Boston Bruins, but now we know that they weren't his ideal landing spot.
After being traded by the Calgary Flames to the rival Vancouver Canucks this past season, Nikita Zadorov made a major statement in Vancouver, showing the entire NHL that he's capable of very big things. That play was timed perfectly too, as the hulking 6-foot-6 defenseman was to become a free agent this summer, where he would ultimately ink a massive deal with the Boston Bruins alongside Elias Lindholm.
Now however, Zadorov has revealed that heading to Boston wasn't his first choice, as he ideally wanted to stay with the Canucks given that his career was revitalized in Western Canada, but ultimately he priced himself out of the Canucks with his impressive play.
Zadorov says #Canucks were his "first choice" in free agency: report 🧐
This doesn't come as a shock given the success that the Canucks had as a team with Zadorov, but after playing so well, the team just couldn't afford him, and in Boston, he'll have a fantastic chance at making a run for the Stanley Cup.
