The Toronto Maple Leafs have scratched Nick Robertson once again, and now it appears as though the young forward may be on the way out soon.
All off-season long, trade speculation circled young Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson, and after he demanded a trade from the team, many expected him to be moved before the 2024/25 campaign started. That never happened however, and with an impressive pre-season, he won a spot on the roster, but after struggling early in the regular season, he has been officially scratched for his second straight game.
Following this news, Robertson was asked about his position on the Maple Leafs roster, and he downplayed his frustration, revealing that he just wants to continue working hard to earn a consistent spot in the lineup.
«I mean, again, I don't know. I'm not sure if it's a surprise or not. I just go with it. I don't take it personally; I just have to work hard.
And again, other guys aren't playing that probably should be. It's just part of the deal, and it's my job to keep working hard.»
Unsurprisingly, Robertson doesn't want to rock the boat in Toronto, and he reveals he will continue working hard to push his way back into the lineup, but with all three top lines seemingly solidified in his absence, it's not looking good for him.
With no logical way back into the lineup, questions are now being asked about his future in Toronto, and with so many scouts looking at Maple Leafs games in recent times, the connections to Robertson are being made. Ultimately, it's unclear where his future lies, but after a slow start to the year and no way back into the team, expect trade talks to continue intensifying for Robertson.
