The Bruins have been dealing with the fallout from Milan Lucic's arrest for over a week now. Today new information came to light that could give the Bruins an avenue to screw over Lucic.

Insider Reveals How The Bruins Can Screw Over Lucic

Today NHL insider and Bruins writer Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now took a look at the Milan Lucic situation. He has found a clause in Lucic's contract that could allow the Bruins to get out of the contract.

From @MurphysLaw74, the #NHLBruins can terminate Milan Lucic's contract:

«The «Morality Clause» of the Standard Player Contract (SPC) states that a team can terminate a deal with a player who breaches the contract with «conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club. Each player must agree to conduct himself on and off the rink according to the highest standards of honesty, morality, fair play, and sportsmanship and to refrain from conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club, the League, or professional hockey generally.'»

With Lucic's conduct absolutely falling within these parameters of conduct detrimental to the best interest of the club this is an avenue that we could see the Bruins take. According to Murphy though this will not happen for at least 30 days as Lucic has entered the Player Assistance Program which gives Lucic at least those 30 days.

They can release him whenever they want but I'm told they are going to wait until he does the minimum 30 days

With this knowledge that they will not release him for at least 30 days, it does confirm the team is considering the option. If Lucic is indeed released it would likely spell the end of his career in the NHL.
