The St. Louis Blues have traded defenceman Pierre-Olivier Joseph to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for future considerations.
The move was made official Wednesday and sends Pierre-Olivier Joseph back to Pittsburgh where he spent the first four years of his NHL career.
This season, Joseph has a pair of assists in 23 games, averaging 13 minutes and six seconds of ice time per contest for the Blues.
The move also ends the first period that the 25-year-old defenseman had spent playing with his brother, winger Mathieu Joseph.
Mathieu Joseph made sure to post a heartfelt moment on his Instagram, a picture of the two having dinner with a caption reading "last dinner."
Standing 6-foot-2 and a left-shot defenseman, P.O. Joseph signed on a one-year deal worth $950,000 with the Blues during the off-season.
He'll be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, but this move gives him a chance to get things back in order with his old team.
The 23rd overall draft pick of the Arizona Coyotes back in 2017, P.O. Joseph has recorded eight goals and 39 points in 170 career games between his time with the Penguins and Blues.
A native of Laval, Quebec, P.O. Joseph also represented Canada at the 2023 World Championship, bringing home a gold medal. Returning to Pittsburgh means a new chapter in his career that brings depth to the Penguins' blue line.
