In the past few weeks, there have been teams in the NHL as frustrated as the Boston Bruins, with Head Coach Jim Montgomery seemingly making statements after the team's struggles every single day. Their performance on Saturday night won't go a long way to alleviate those frustrations, as the team would fall 3-2 in overtime against the Atlantic Division rival Ottawa Senators, who stymied the Bruins offense in the third period, allowing exactly 0 shots on goal.
The game would eventually head to OT, and in less than a minute, Senators captain Brady Tkachuk would finish the game in dramatic fashion, wrapping up a much-needed win for Ottawa.
Unsurprisingly, this was highly frustrating for a team in Boston that appeared to be working very hard on the ice, and after the winner from Tkachuk, captain Brad Marchand clearly let out some frustrations on the feisty Senators forward, being caught on camera doing so.
The 'Everyday Sens' account on X seems to have a clear (and accurate) idea of what Marchand called his opposing captain, and while some opposing players could potentially not like it, that is the exact type of reaction Tkachuk loves, very similar to Marchand. In 16 games this season, Marchand has been producing at his normal level with 12 points thus far, including an OT winner of his own in their previous game, so while there's plenty of blame to go around, the play of Marchand and David Pastrnak remains at a very high level.
For now though, the Bruins slump to 7-7-2 on the season, a very poor start after what we've seen them do in recent years, but with the passion and the talent on this team, there remains plenty of optimism that they can turn things around.
