NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported last night that the Bruins are in panic mode. He did not use the word 'panic' himself, but did say that there is 'a lot of intensity in Boston' as the organization tries to turn things around quickly.
Earlier in the same segment, they did talk about former Bruin Taylor Hall and he seemed to imply that something could happen there. While he didn't directly link him to the Bruins, it is intriguing that both these stories are airing at the same time. Perhaps Hall's former club has checked in with Chicago regarding his availability?
Bruins reporter Scott Roche argues that a change of scenery could greatly benefit Hall at this point in his career, and what better place would be for him than his former club?
Hall, 32, has just 2 goals and 6 points in 17 games this season. In his last year with the Bruins, he had 16 goals and 36 points in 61 games. That kind of production is hard to come by for the team as of late.
Should the Bruins actually go through with a trade for Hall, one piece that could go the other way is young forward Trent Frederic. The Bruins have reportedly been considering moving Frederic as their season continues to deteriorate.
Frederic, 26, has 3 goals and 6 points in 19 games with the Bruins this season. Last year he broke out with 18 goals and 41 points in 82 games. He fits the Blackhawks timeline and can do a little bit of everything.
Both teams are worth watching in the coming days and weeks as these rumors continue to swirl. Be sure to stay tuned to see if Hall makes a reunion with his former club.
