Report confirms Jack Edwards last Bruins game will be tonight
Today sad news for the hockey world was announced after it was confirmed that Boston Bruins announcer Jack Edwards will be calling his last game tonight. After a long tenure as the voice of the Bruins Jack Edwards will be taking a step back.
It was announced earlier this season that the Boston Bruins announcer Jack Edwards would be stepping away from the microphone after this season. Now today a new announcement has confirmed that tonight's Game 6 for the Bruins will be his last.
Tonight is the final game for Jack Edwards. ABC has exclusive rights if there's a Game 7.
For Jack Edwards, it will likely be a bittersweet moment. He will have the opportunity to go out on his own terms but will have to say goodbye to a role and a fan base he has known for a long time. This includes saying goodbye to his broadcast partner Andy Brickley as well.
«You don't find out who the best teammates are when champagne is dripping off your ceiling. You find out who the best teammates are when the times are tough.»
Jack Edwards of course couldn't go out without some controversy surrounding his calls. The other night he called the referee Steve Kozari a coward.
In his final game tonight, the Boston Bruins will give Jack Edwards one final opportunity to make an iconic call that will stand the test of time. He could also ruffle some feathers along the way. As the game draws closer the anticipation builds to see one of the most iconic announcers go to work one final time.
