Over the past few seasons, the Boston Bruins have been one of the best regular season teams in the NHL, but in 2024/25 that couldn't be further from the truth, as the team are just 6-7-1 through their first 14 games. While there's still plenty of time to turn it around and no reason to hit the panic button just yet, Jim Montgomery's seat could be getting much hotter, and it may lead this team to make some surprise moves.
One of those moves could come in the form of trading 26-year-old forward Trent Frederic, who has become an increasingly valuable player for the Bruins in recent years. According to top Insider Kevin Weekes, several teams have shown interest in the former first-round draft pick, and as he is expected to hit free agency at the end of the year, it makes perfect sense for the Bruins to entertain that interest.
After steadily building into his career, Frederic posted his best numbers yet a season ago, playing in all 82 games while tallying 18 goals and 40 points, and now he could become a huge talking point for the Bruins this season. Given the immense amount of talent that they have in front of star netminder Jeremy Swayman, many believe it's just a matter of time until things turn around.
If that doesn't happen though, don't be surprised to see Frederic on the move, and with some other valuable pieces on this team, if the struggles continue, they could look to get some major assets in return for those available players.
