The Boston Bruins fought hard in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but ultimately fell in the second round to the eventual champion Florida Panthers. Now, they've loaded up in the off-season, adding Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm, but the job isn't done, as they are reportedly eyeing a free agent deal with veteran Blake Wheeler.
Despite having injury issues a year ago with the New York Rangers, Wheeler still managed 9 goals and 21 points in 54 games in 2023/24, although it's clear that he will never be the player he once was with the Winnipeg Jets. While the Bruins top-six is set with the addition of Lindholm, there's still plenty of unproven talent in their bottom-six, and the addition of Wheeler could go a long way to help that.
It's unclear what his market is, despite having a solid campaign a season ago, but if the interest from Boston is to be believed, there would be few better landing spots for the veteran, so keep a close eye on this one as the 2024/25 season approaches.
