The Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin publicly criticized Elias Pettersson, suggesting a trade must be looming.

Since J.T. Miller returned from his leave of absence, the Vancouver Canucks have been going downhill, winning only three out of their last 10 games.

Of course, the rumors of the quarrel between Miller and Pettersson could explain those struggles.

However, the players must perform better, especially Pettersson.

Currently playing in the first year of his eight-season, $11.6 million extension with the Canucks, he'll need to produce more for the fans to get off his back.

He has only 10 goals and 18 assists in 34 games so far, and general manager Patrik Allvin, as well as his whole organization, expect more from him.

In a massive declaration, Allvin even called him out, saying he needs to mature:

"It comes back to expectations and preparation, how you prepare yourself. I don't believe that he was aware of just how hard it was going to be. Just because you achieve one thing to get a long-term extension life just gets harder.

You haven't really accomplished anything. You're not even halfway there (to winning a Stanley Cup). And then obviously the mental part comes in there, too, and suddenly you feel the pressure.

Petey has shown up to this point that he is an extremely talented, quality player who could and should be a No. 1 center. I believe in him. I believe that he's capable.

(But) he needs to mature and understand that there are certain expectations and it does not get easier. And you need to face the music when things don't go well. Is it (a trade) possible? I guess I would say anything is possible."

The Canucks are currently standing at the fourth rank of the Pacific Division between the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames.

Speaking of which, Vancouver will be back on the ice against the Flames tonight. If the Flames win, they will take the fourth spot in the division from the Canucks.
