Last night in a shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Capitals lost more than just the game. Alex Ovechkin stole the puck and went in one a breakaway and got tripped by Leafs goaltender and went crashing into the boards shoulder first. Ovechkin left the game and did not return.
Ovechkin is now officially labeled as day-to-day as per the Capitals PR
#Caps captain Alex Ovechkin sustained an upper-body injury on Sunday versus Toronto and is listed as day-to-day.
While we can choose to believe that this could have been much worse and Ovechkin could be done for the season as we have seen sometimes ''day to day'' injuries are more than just a few days, but with a week remaining before playoffs begin, the Capitals captain has a few more days to let his body heal.
Shoulder are sensitive and injuries can take awhile to heal, let's hope the Capitals have their 50 goal scoring captain back for game 1 of the playoffs.
Russian Machine Never Break.
TJ Oshie spoked to Ovechkin after the game and had this to say to the media:
I mean, I've never met anyone tougher than that guy,» Oshie said. «We all hope he's fine. I just talked to him and I think he'll be all right. It's always scary seeing Big 8 go down and lay on the ice. Like I said, he's a tough guy. But If there's anyone I would imagine who would miss no more time than he needs to, it'd be 8.
