Tom Wilson left Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers after just 3 shifts with an apparent lower body injury potentially after taking a hit from Panthers defenceman MacKenzie Weegar.
It was confirmed today that Wilson will not play tonight's game 2 contest against the Panthers.
Despite only playing 3 shifts Wilson made an important impact for this team, recording 2 shots on net, scoring 1 goal, and drawing a penalty in Washington's win 4-2 win against the Panthers.
As the Capitals are hoping to make a deep playoff run they can only hold their breath and hope that Wilson's injury is minor and will not impact his ability to play in later games in the series.
Wilson was an important contributor for the Capitals this past season, recording career highs in goals, assists, points, and plus/minus, while contributing leadership on ice and in the locker room as a 9 year veteran of the Capitals.
