BREAKING: The Canadiens have traded their first round pick
The Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche have brokered a trade that sends a former lottery pick to Montreal.
Canadiens Trade First Round Pick
The Montreal Canadiens have acquired former lottery pick Alex Newhook in exchange for the 31st and 37th picks and a prospect.
Newhook has yet to fully break out but he is primed to produce with the Canadiens. He provides a solid two-way game and will likely be a key piece of the Habs rebuild.
He is coming off a 30-point campaign but will likely score far more in an elevated role in Montreal. He is also a Newfoundlander.
