Unfortuately for awhile now, Muzzin has been experiencing some health issues, most recently being his back.
This season he only got into 4 games, and hasn't been able to play since all the way back on October 17th, where he left a game against the Arizona Coyotes.
There has been a lot of speculation on what is going on with Muzzin, if he will ever play again, if he could make it back this season etc. Well, the Maple Leafs just answered that in their latest update:
Maple Leafs announce Jake Muzzin has been ruled out for the rest of the 2022-23 regular season and playoffs as he recovers from a cervical spine injury.
The club will provide a further update as to his status at training camp in September 2023. #LeafsForever NHL News (@PuckReportNHL) February 22, 2023
His NHL return has not been ruled out for September 2023 yet, but health always comes first and if an NHL return poses any threat to further ailments, Muzzin should hang up the skates and call it a career.
