A young first-round pick appears to be injured after taking a hard hit.

Pelletier Injured

Back in 2019, the Calgary Flames took Jakob Pelletier with the 26th overall pick with the hopes of him one day slotting into their top six.

Last season, he debuted in the NHL with 24 games registering 7 points. Heading into tonight, he was looking to impress with the Flames and eventually earn that top-six role but it seems like that will be delayed.

Pelletier took this dirty hit from Kraken defender Marian Studenic that appears to have injured him badly.

Pelletier was not on the ice when the 2nd period began and Studenic was ejected for his hit.

Pretty late on this but Marian Studenic was given five minutes and a game for his hit on Pelletier.

Pelletier not on the bench to start the second, unsurprisingly.

Hopefully, Pelletier's injury is not too bad as this could alter the course of his career at this stage.
