Well NHL official Dave Jackson decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. Two well known Journalists to Montreal, Stu Cowan and Brian Wilde, strongly criticized the work of the officials, claiming that they penalized players less in the playoffs than in the regular season.Experienced official Dave Jackson didn't miss the opportunity to plant them on social media.
Jason made those Cowan and Wilde eat their own words as Jackson presented supporting figures that are undeniable. In four of the last five NHL seasons, there have been more penalties called in a playoff game than in the regular season.
Stu Cowan or Brian Wilde remained speechless in front of these striking statistics and especially since the only year when it was the opposite, there was only a difference of 0.29% between the two scenarios.
Jackson went on to explain the difference from playoffs to regular season games and that NHL referees use their own discretion on what's a penalty and what's not in a game 7 situation. The officials like to let players play to win instead of officiating having an impact on the final result unless force by blatantly obvious penalties.
