Shocking again. Again, the hockey world is burdened by the unbelievable shock of losing another life. Hockey sensation Will Neeb died in an SUV car accident last month.
His teammates hit the ice in absolute silence, going down to a knee to receive the sad message of his loss, their captain.
A 6'3" 16-year-old emerging hockey sensation quickly became quite a commanding figure among his peers with the Connecticut Chiefs.
His towering size and tireless work ethic made him dominant on the ice this year. He scored 12 goals and notched 25 points in 22 games to lead his club in both categories.
But he loved another sport even more than hockey; lacrosse. He had been strong in both, and teammates and coaches in both remembered his leadership, his kind heart, and how much he loved the game.
It was a tragic loss, coming just within weeks of another tragedy that recently unfolded, with Greek goaltender Dimitris Skotis, 28, also passing away. More heartbreak in the hockey community.
From his family and friends right through to teammates, Neeb's spirit and pure commitment to the thing that he most loved will not be forgotten in any way.
RIP, Will, you are going to be terribly missed.
