When Evander Kane joined the Edmonton Oilers this year, he had just had a 7 year, $49 million contract ripped up by the San Jose Sharks. Kane took a chance on himself and signed with the Oilers to play with the greatest player in the world. After signing the one year deal with paid him $1,375,000, Kane would not disappoint, scoring 22 goals and 39 points in 43 games, adding in an additional 13 goals and 17 points in 15 playoff games.

Well, that one year show me deal is now up and Kane showed the Oilers and the league that he is still a top player and can be affective and produce while staying out of trouble.

The Edmonton Oilers are lacking cap space at the moment but GM Ken Holland said he really wants to bring Kane back. Unfortunately the Oilers also have a few RFA's to resign in Kailer Yamamoto, Jesse Puljujarvi & Ryan McLeod.

According to NHL Insider Kevin Weekes, Evander will consider taking a discount to stay with the Oilers, but that discount it said to start with a 7, instead of an 8 where other teams will need to offer.

Is Kane being a little selfish here or is he actually worth this amount of money?
