The PWHL is off to an incredible start showing that women's hockey can be a major draw too, and on Saturday, we learned of the first suspension in the history of the league.

Taylor Wenczkowski gets given one-game

That honour goes to Taylor Wenczkowski of the PWHL's Boston franchise, who was given a one-game suspension after a brutal hit to the head of Ottawa's Amanda Boulier.

"Player safety is a top priority for the PWHL. We all recognize that our game is played at a fast pace and there is a high level of physicality. Overall, this style of play will continue to be encouraged in a safe way, within the rules of the game. Our Player Safety Committee, in regular consultation with the PWHLPA, is dedicated to ensuring that there is consistent enforcement of the rules and constant vigilance to deliver supplemental discipline when warranted." - Jayna Hefford, PWHL SVP of Hockey Operations, and Chair of the PWHL Player Safety Committee."

A lot of fans have been impressed at the level of physicality shown in the PWHL thus far, but regardless, hits like this aren't accepted anywhere, and it's safe to say that this will set a precedent against unnecessary hits like this in the future.
