After the trade sending Cutter Gauthier from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Anaheim Ducks in return of a 2nd round draft pick and defenseman Jamie Drysdale, the reporter Anthony SanFilippo spreaded the rumour that Kevin Hayes, a former Flyers player, had a role to play in Gauthier's refusal to sign with Philadelphia.
Because of that rumour, Hayes received threats on him and his family on social medias, which was comdemned by the whole hockey community.
Tortorella completely blasted the reporter in a recent press conference.
Watch how it went down :
Tortorella probably gained many fans with that statement, including a 700-game veteran.
Former NHLer Jason Demers, who played for the San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, Arizona Coyotes and Edmonton Oilers between 2009 and 2022, revealed on X that he'd even pay to work with Tortorella.
In 700 NHL games, he scored 214 points, including 45 goals. He also tallied 407 penalty minutes in his career.
Demers, 35, could be a great fit in John Tortorella's system. The Flyers will certainly try to bolster their lineup ahead of the trade deadline, if they hope the make a push for the playoffs.
