This past Sunday the Dallas Stars played the Calgary Flames in game 7 of their series, which the Flames ended up taking 3-2 in overtime by a goal from Johnny Gaudreau.
Does everyone remember when Jean-Sebastien Giguere won the Conn Smythe Trophy back in 2003 as the losing goaltender? If this was the stanley cup finals, Oettinger would have been the Conn Smythe winner.
In this series, Oettinger had an incredible .954 save percentage and 1.81 goal against average in these 7 games, thats amazing, especially in a losing effort.
In the handshake line after the series, Markstrom acknowledge the effort put in by Oettinger and paid him a massive sign of respect, see below:
For those who couldn't lip read, Markstrom told Oettinger:
Keep going man, you're the F***ing future!
