For years this team has been spending almost the league minimum, constantly stating ''if we are competing we will spend more'' but the issue is, how can a team compete with a team like Tampa Bay if they spend $20 million less than Tampa, ($30 million in the playoffs, hehe).
During a press conference yesterday, Pierre Dorion the GM of the Ottawa Senators said he knows that the Senators need to make some additions to their lineup to take that next step. But the problem is, he once again said that the team would once again next season not be a team that spends to the Salary Cap limit.
With players on the team really starting to come into their own, this is pretty disappointing news for Senators fans, who could only be a few free agent pieces away from actually making the playoffs.
Without any success, and the anger the fanbase has shown for the team, it's been tough for them to sell tickets and have fans actually come see the Senators play, and Dorion takes a shot at the fanbase as the reason for their lack of spending.
PD - We won't be spending to the top of the cap unless we sell out all 41 home games. TSN 1200 (@TSN1200) May 1, 2022
Think of players like Brady Tkachuk who just signed in Ottawa for 8 years because they ensured him they would be a competitive team. How do you think he feels about this?
