Alexander Ovechkin was forced to miss the Washington Capitals last game against the Edmonton Oilers and the NHL All-Star game after he tested positive for COVID-19. Despite the bad news the Great 8 was always in good health and has now passed his return to play COVID test and is now eligible to return for tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Before testing positive Ovechkin was amid his worst stretch of play this season. Ovi was held scoreless in 4 consecutive games, due to this mini slump he's fallen to 4th in the league in goals and 5th in overall points.

Despite passing protocol it is not a guarantee that Ovechkin will play tonight, but we should have more details shortly as we near morning skate. It's likely Ovechkin is chomping at the bit to play, so far this season he has 3 points and 2 goals against the Blue Jackets this season.

It is also likely the Capitals will look to get Ovechkin into tonight's game as he will be unable to travel with the team to Canada for Thursday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, due to Canada's required COVID quarantine restrictions.
