The NHL has fined Artemi Panarin $5,000 for throwing his glove at Bruins' Brad Marchand during yesterday afternoons Bruins versus Rangers game.
After the game Marchand made light of the situation issuing the following quote about the incident.
"We were just asking about what Thanksgiving dinner was. He didn't like what I ate."
Well everyone already knew that not to be the case but according to sources of The Athletic there might be a reason that Panarin was so upset.
From The Athletic Rangers writer
«According to a source, Marchand made some Russian-centric comments toward Panarin along the lines of «no one likes you there» while bringing up Russian President Vladimir Putin, of whom Panarin has been critical in the past.»
If that is the case it is highly likely the NHL will not be fond of Marchand's comments. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as it's obvious Artemi Panarin is an easy target league wide right now.
