The Philadelphia Flyers are currently 7th in the Metropolitan division in terms of point percentage and are struggling to find answers. The team has lost 4 games in a row and their once star goaltender Carter Hart has been plagued with inconsistent starts all season.

The Flyers are also in a very strange spot with 9 unrestricted free agents this summer with some of those players being considered core members of the team. Those free agents include team Captain Claude Giroux, Rasmus Ristolainen, Derick Brassard, Martin Jones, Justin Braun and many more.

At least one NHL insider expects the Flyers to capitalize on those free agents and try to rebuild this year at the trade deadline. While a guest on The Jeff Marek Show, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared the following bold statement.

If I was to bet your mansion on it, Jeff, I would bet that Giroux gets traded.

I think Giroux is one of those questions because the time dictates it has to be and I have no doubt Provorov is another.

Friedman believes that the Flyers will look to trade not just Claude Giroux, but also consider moving defenseman Ivan Provorov.

Giroux is an unrestricted free agent as mentioned but the 24 year old Provorov would be a surprising move. Provorov has 3 years left after this season with a cap hit of $6,750,000.

Friedman also believes we will see the Flyers make a decision on what direction they'll take as an organization over the next couple months.

Given this news the Flyers are definitely a team to be monitored on the trade front.
