The Southern Professional Hockey League is considered a professional hockey league, but in a lower tier. It's had some interesting moments over the years, but this one is definitely near the top of the list.

PJS Sports Dave Eminian reported that the Vermillion County Bobcats and Quad City Storm were supposed to play yesterday, but the Vermillion County Bobcats who were the home team, didn't even bother showing up to the game!

SPHL drama in Danville, where host Vermilion County never showed up for game vs Quad City. It's a forfeit win for QC. Most bizarre thing I've seen in 40 years covering pro hockey. QC bused in, skated warmups, lined up national anthem/faceoff, skated a lap, then saluted "crowd"

A lot of people started to question why they didn't bother to show up to the game, which Dave quickly replied:

9-70-7 in 1.5 yrs, 10 coaches, 10 skaters left, attendance under 400 per game. This was inevitable.
