Last night Shane Wright FINALLY got into a game with the Seattle Kraken after being a healthy scratch for the last few.
The Kraken blanked the Minnesota WIld 4-0 and Wright skated in a career high 13:45 and even got 1:55 on the powerplay. While this is still very low minutes, this is atleast better fitting time for a developing player and giving him the chance to play in an offensive role to show what he can do.
There has been a lot of discussion on what the Kraken's plan is for this young prospect, and while many people have been quick to say that they should throw him back in the Ontario Hockey League, apparently that will not be the case.
According to General Manager Ron Francis, the plan is to keep him in the NHL, but he could be loaned to the AHL team for 14 days.
But in order for this to happen, he would been to be scratched for five straight games, which he was actually already close to that happening.
Dreger on Insider Trading says it is very likely Shane Wright will stay with the Kraken. An interesting sidebar, there is a clause in the NHL/CHL agreement that allows junior eligible players to be loaned to the AHL. Wright would have to be a healthy scratch for 5 straight games.
He can only be loaned once to the AHL and can stay for a maximum of 14 days. Dreger believes this is something the Kraken are considering and they are also looking to loan him to Canada for the WJHC.
