Ryan Getzlaf held a press conference on Tuesday to announce that he will retire at the conclusion of the regular season after one hell of career playing 17 seasons all as a member of the Anaheim Ducks.
This was an emotional day for Getzlaf the Ducks Captain who had his family in attendance and took the time to thank a special person that inspired him throughout his career.
Getzlaf got emotional and teared up as he thanked former teammate and now Tampa Bay Lightning forward Corey Perry, his «best friend.»

»We started out on this journey together. It would have been nice to finish it together, but hockey is what it is.»
Getzlaf who was one of the greatest Anaheim Ducks ever and a amazing captain talked about his team saying,
«Team is everything for me. That's what I'm going to miss the most. Showing up at the rink and going to battle with guys.»
Getzlaf and Perry won the Stanley Cup together during their second NHL season back in 2007, teaming up with Teemu Selanne, Scott Niedermayer, Chris Pronger and Jean-Sébastien Giguère as the Ducks became the first California hockey team to win the Stanley Cup that team will also go down in history as one of the greatest Cup teams of all-time it put the Anaheim Ducks on the map.
Getzlaf played in 1,150 NHL games with the Ducks and racked up 1,013 points
Getzlaf became Anaheim's career franchise scoring leader last Oct. 31, and then became the 92nd player in league history to score 1,000 points on Nov. 16. Getzlaf also leads the Ducks in career games played and assists 731. He has been Anaheim's captain for the past 12 seasons.
I'd say that's hall of fame worthy.
