One of the major reasons for the horrible production this season was all the teams losses in the offseason. First off they lost star defensive center Phillip Danault to free agency, lost former 3rd overall pick Jesperi Kotkaniemi to an offer sheet from Carolina, captain Shea Weber has not played this season due to injury, nor has starting all-star, future hall of fame goalie Carey Price. Throw in injuries to Jonathan Drouin and smaller short term injuries to other players, they have been the most injured team this season.
Only Nick Suzuki, Jake Evans & Alexander Romanov have played in 60+ games this season for the Canadiens. In 2003 the LA Kings set the all-time record for man-games last with 629, and as of their last game on April 2nd, the Habs have already lost 656 man games and there is still another 13 games left to their season.
Definitely not a record you want to own.
