Ben Bishop has spent the last year working his way back from a knee injury and surgery. Bishop this week made a conditioning stint start with the Texas Stars where he allowed 8 goals. Today the Dallas Stars had announced they'd recalled Bishop and placed him back on LTIR.
Unfortunately that wasn't the only news as this morning General Manager Jim Nill announced that Bishop's career was officially over due to the injury.
Nill issued the following comments:
"It's no secret, he has a degenerative knee injury, and he went down there, he wanted to be a big part of this. He wanted to do everything he could to get back. In the end, by going through the process, going down there and playing, he found out that it's the end of his career.»
Bishop ends his career with 413 games played across five different teams and he was a Vezina Trophy finalist three times, including 2nd place finishes in 2015-16 with Tampa Bay and 2018-19 with Dallas.
Best of luck Ben it whatever comes next.
