The NHL and Gary Bettman had to make the tough decision to reschedule the start times of four upcoming games, which will impact three Canadian teams.

The NHL has announced in this early part of the 2024-25 NHL season some updates to the start times for four upcoming games set to take place.

The Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets game on November 9 will now start at 2:00 PM CT. The Nashville Predators vs. Vancouver Canucks matchup on January 3 has been moved to 7:00 PM PT. The Detroit Red Wings vs. Winnipeg Jets game on January 4 will now begin at 6:00 PM CT. And finally, the January 4 Nashville Predators vs. Calgary Flames game has been rescheduled to 8:00 PM MT. No word has been given yet as to why these game times have changed.

Three Canadian teams have been impacted. The Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames. Both the Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames have been on an absolute tear to start the season. Winnipeg has started off 5-0-0 and remains the only undefeated team in the NHL. Calgary has also defied expectations and had a very hot start, with a record of 4-0-1, having collected points in every game so far.

The Vancouver Canucks and Elias Pettersson, however, are another story altogether. The Canucks have only won two of their first five games, and Pettersson just doesn't seem to be himself as of late. The forward, with only one goal in the final 11 regular-season games with Vancouver last season, had even less impact once the Stanley Cup Playoffs started, scoring just one goal in 13 games. So far this season in his team's five games, he has yet to score a goal and has only managed two assists. He looks tentative, unsure of himself, and even a little fearful at times. He avoids contact, often skating past the play, not chasing down the puck, and frequently giving it away. These are all disturbing features that the Canucks organization desperately needs answers to ASAP.

It will be interesting to keep an eye out as to why these games were rescheduled, but if there's one thing that's for sure about all of this, it's that regardless of the change in the game's start time, coaches and fans will still expect the most from their teams no matter what.

Will Elias Pettersson's contract go down as one of the worst in Canucks history?
