The New York Rangers have made some huge moves this season already, and now their longest tenured player could be on the move in the very near future, as rumours continue to swirl over the future of veteran Chris Kreider.

This season has been a wild ride for New York Rangers fans, as the team completely fell apart before moving Kaapo Kakko and Filip Chytil, all while acquiring star forward J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks.
While their lineup looks set for now, things could change in a hurry, as a recent report from Vince Mercogliano has revealed that the team are motivated to move veteran Chris Kreider, whether that be ahead of the deadline or over the summer, with speculation on this topic being present for much of the season.

Following a career high 52 goals back in 2021, Kreider has been in the high 30's for the past two years, but in 2024/25 he has struggled mightily, posting just 17 goals and 21 points in 48 games played, with the front office clearly growing frustrated over his situation.
Despite being a leader on this team and the franchise's longest tenured player, it's clear that his play style just isn't conducive to success anymore, and after the team landed Miller, the possibility exists for them to shake up the core even more.
Ahead of the March 7th deadline, the team are likely to move veteran Reilly Smith as another part of their overhaul of the organization, and with Kreider's struggles on the ice, as of now, all signs are pointing to the team moving on from him in the next few days or at the end of the 2025 campaign.
