Tony DeAngelo is a very polarizing figure, that's indisputable. He's often not very popular with the fans, the opposing team and sometimes even his teammates. Well last night he added the officiating crew to that list as he was ejected for the verbal abuse of officials, or simply not agreeing and shutting up about it.
DeAngelo was upset by play in the 3rd period of the Hurricanes loss to the Blue Jackets that clearly appeared like a blatant trip.
DeAngelo has done a good job this season of keeping his head down and not drawing too much attention to himself in Carolina. After being black balled but the New York Rangers and getting into a fight with teammate Alexandre Georgiev, DeAngelo was sent home for the season and was eventually bought out. He signed a 1-year deal with Carolina and has added 24 points in 27 games.
After the game DeAngelo shared his thoughts on his ejection.
«I didn't really say that much to him, but I guess that's what goes on nowadays — you can't say anything without people getting upset."
Hopefully for the Hurricanes' sake DeAngelo can keep himself calm cool and collected because the young dman has definitely bridged the gap from them losing
Dougie Hamilton to New Jersey in the off season.
