The New York Islanders missed out on Alex DeBrincat after it was rumored that he could end up there.
Now that he's gone to Detroit, the Isles could still be looking for a forward in the coming months.
Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reported that the Islanders wanted to acquire DeBrincat in a package involving Jean-Gabriel Pageau. Now that they need to change their plan, it seems like Pageau could be involved in another trade, this time with the Boston Bruins.
Pageau in Boston?
The name of Jake DeBrusk has been circulating in rumors for a few days now. It looks like the Bruins are willing to part ways with the forward to add some inexpensive depth to the lineup.
DeBrusk, who has a year left on his $4M AAV contract, would be a great fit with the Islanders. He has experience playing with top players, including Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. If he plays in the Isles' top six with Barzal and/or Horvat, some real damage could be done.
Pageau would also fit well in Boston. He's the type of player that every team wants: a hard worker, a fast skater, and a team player.
