The New York Rangers were hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning in game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals last night and the Rangers have now jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions.

The Lightnings frustrations were starting to show as in the third period the Bolts players were starting to get a little heated. Every chance they could get they were throwing the body around and making sure to add an additional shot as well.

This shot from Cirelli crossed the line. Ryan Strome was working to get the puck and Cirelli hit him from behind into the boards. Cirelli decided to give him an extra shot as well when Strome was on his knees, cross-checking him on the back into the boards.

This was definitely an intent-to-injure play by Cirelli and will most definitely be looked at by the league today.

Strome fell into the boards awkwardly after the cross-check and went immediately to the bench.
