We Now Know the Effect of Jacob Trouba's Hit on Timo Meier
While the New Jersey Devils would ultimately be victorious in game 7 against the New York Rangers, one of the most talked about incidents from the game was a hit by Jacob Trouba on Timo Meier. It was a classic Trouba hit that left Meier motionless on the ice for a short time while a team trainer looked him over.
There was no penalty called on the play, and no supplemental discipline, something that caused a huge debate among hockey fans on social media. Now, with the Devils set to open their second round series tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes, we're getting to see the full impact of Trouba's hit.
Meier appeared with his New Jersey Devils teammates at practice today wearing a full face shield. He also has some awful looking cuts all over his nose, likely where his visor dug into his face due to the impact of the hit.
Meier, a massive pickup for New Jersey at the trade deadline, was kept off the scoresheet in all seven games of the first round. He now has a chance to redeem himself against the Hurricanes.
