Winnipeg Trolls Montreal With Small Detail in Dubois Trade With LA
The Winnipeg Jets may have trolled the Montreal Canadiens with a small detail in their recent deal that sent Pierre-Luc Dubois to the LA Kings.
It was just announced the full details of the Winnipeg Jets blockbuster trade with the LA Kings.
Nothing looks all that out of the ordinary till you see Montreal's 2024 second-round pick.
How did the Jets get the Canadiens 2024 2nd round pick?
The Canadiens originally traded this pick to the Arizona Coyotes in the
Christian Dvorak trade that included this pick and Carolina's 2022 first.
The Coyotes then traded this pick to the LA Kings in exchange for
Sean Durzi.
Now the Kings have traded the pick to the Jets as a part of the Pierre-Luc Dubois blockbuster.
It was heavily rumored that Dubois wanted to head to Montreal and that the Canadiens were in on the trade. However, their package was not up to par with LA's package, and that resulted in Dubois heading out west.
This could be because the Jets wanted to get a second-round pick in return but the Kings currently hold the 54th pick in the 2023 draft. This could be the Jets betting that the 2024 pick will be higher, but it could also be a troll from them.
This may be a troll or it could be the Jets simply trying to acquire top assets. Nonetheless, Winnipeg got a massive haul for Dubois and will surely be happy with the business they have done today.
