Carter Hart has been trying to return Stateside in his current bid to resume his hockey career. He had been planning on a relocation from Alberta to Tennessee for training, but recently was denied entry into the U.S.
Meanwhile, the other hockey players indicted in the same case have been excused from appearing at non-essential hearings on grounds of job commitments and playing hockey abroad. Carter Hart, one of two players no longer active but attempting a comeback, submitted an affidavit to be excused from court to focus on training.
To make the move easier for himself, Carter Hart has retained an immigration attorney to help him relocate to Tennessee, where he would train full-time in preparation for his return to the sport.
The former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender argued in his court filings that an inability to train properly would prevent him from getting back into competitive shape.
In August, Justice Bruce Thomas gave the players some leniencies, including ruling the right to a routine life must be preserved, at the very least in a period before trial. Thomas maintained that the lawyers would represent the players at the pre-trial hearings, adding the players are obliged to appear when the jury is sworn in for the trial in 2025.
