50 Million Dollar Forward In Trade Talks After Shocking Turn In His Career
The St. Louis Blues have bounced back quite well this season after a disappointing campaign last year. However, one of their young players is suddenly in trade rumors.
Blues Shopping Kyrou Before Trade Protection Kicks In?
Jordan Kyrou signed an eight-year, 65 million-dollar contract with the St. Louis Blues ahead of the 2022-23 season. This year though, his production has dropped off, disappointing the team. Now he is reportedly being shopped by the team according to Blues reporter Jeremy Rutherford.
Rutherford is no dime a dozen reporter either. He writes for the Athletic, one of the most reputable sources covering the NHL. If he has heard something about Kyrou, there may very well be something to it.
#STLBlues insider Jeremy Rutherford on Jordan Kyrou:
"I would give it a 50-60% chance that he's gonna be traded before the NTC kicks in. I'd be shocked if Jordan Kyrou finished his 8-year contract with the Blues."
Kyrou Regressing In Second Year Of Eight-Year Contract
It is not often a 25-year-old player of Kyrou's caliber becomes available on the trade market. That being said, this season has not gone as well as the team would have liked, at least for Kyrou specifically. The forward has 19 goals and 45 points in 57 games this year, quite the step back from his 37 goal, 73 point season last year.
It doesn't seem like this should be enough for him to be on the trade block, but that is not for us to decide. Stay tuned to see what the Blues do with their star forward.
