The Vancouver Canucks made NHL headlines when they recently worked out Phil Kessel, but for the past few weeks, there's been no update, and fans have been desperate to hear about the cult hero.
Vancouver to likely still sign Phill Kessel
Now, Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has given an update on the veteran forward, revealing that he's on his way to Vancouver to work out with the Abbotsford Canucks again this week.
Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin on Phil Kessel:
«Phil has made his way to Vancouver and will be working out in Abbotsford this week. «
On top of that, top Canucks insider Rick Dhawali has given this update on the latest episode of his podcast, with positivity and optimism from both sides that Phil the Thrill will end up in Vancouver.
"I am not hearing anything negative when it comes to the Canucks and Kessel. He will continue to work out this week, all sides want this to end with a signing. The goal was always to sign Kessel, I think that's where it's trending."
While he's highly unlikely to play a 200ft game at this stage of his career, Kessel still knows how to score goals at an amazing pace, tallying 14 a season ago at age 36, and with the Canucks looking for depth in their bottom-six, the pairing just makes perfect sense.
