Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks make a trade ahead of the draft
The Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks have officially brokered a trade involving two first-round picks in tomorrow's NHL draft.
The Buffalo Sabres have traded down from the 11th overall pick to the 14th overall pick picking up an additional second-round pick in the process.
The Buffalo Sabres have acquired a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (14th overall) and a 2nd-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (42nd overall) from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (11th overall).
The Sharks originally had the 14th overall pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins through the Erik Karlsson trade. Now, they are slotted to select 1st overall and 11th overall where they will likely target a defenseman to pair with 1st overall pick Macklin Celebrini.
They will make their selection tomorrow night at the NHL draft. More trades will certainly come involving picks in the first round over the next day.
