Pierre LeBrun reveals the four teams that were in the Yaroslav Askarov derby this summer
The insider Pierre LeBrun revealed the four teams that were in the Yaroslav Askarov derby this summer.
Yaroslav Askarov's name has been involved in plenty of rumors this summer. The Nashville Predators placed him in a tough spot by signing Juuse Saros to an eight-year extension. Askarov, who doesn't want to play in the AHL anymore, didn't have many options, so he asked for a trade.
General Manager Barry Trotz took his time to make it happen, but he eventually reached a deal with the San Jose Sharks.
In return for the goalie, Nashville acquired prospects David Edstrom and Magnus Chrona, as well as a 2025 conditional first-round pick.
In a recent article for The Athletic, Pierre LeBrun revealed that other teams were interested in trading for the goalie.
He stated that the Carolina Hurricanes, Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche, and Philadelphia Flyers were in the mix:
"As mentioned, the four main teams that were competing with the Sharks in those trade talks were the Canes, Habs, Avalanche, and Flyers, per multiple league sources."
The future is very bright in San Jose. With Macklin Celebrini leading the charge in the forward group and Askarov defending the net, things could turn quickly in San Jose.
