The rookies seem to have gotten the memo that these two teams do not like each other, as there was a massive scrum involving all players on the ice after Habs prospect Luke Tuch (brother of Alex Tuch), hit Leafs prospect Noah Chadwick up high.
After some deliberation by the officials, the Leafs were awarded a Powerplay, on which they would eventually score, with Leafs' top prospect Easton Cowan scoring the game-winning goal.
Cowan also just missed scoring on the empty net as well, but in the end, it didn't matter as the Leafs held on to win the game by a final score of 5-4 and sweeping their oldest rival in the weekend series.
Leafs prospect Topi Niemela had an impressive two games for the Leafs, registering 5 points in both games combined, a potential good sign for the Leafs as Niemela has stalled out in the minors and looks to make the leap into NHL hockey.
Montreal's prospect pool is considered much stronger than Toronto's but the Leafs still managed to pull out the win in two very close games, perhaps a precursor to the regular season games these teams will have.
One thing is for certain: the rivalry between the two original six franchises is alive and well, even amongst their rookies.
