Evander Kane has been a key piece of the Edmonton Oilers for the past few years, but now it appears he's becoming open to a major trade before his return.
The past year has been full of speculation and uncertainty about the future of Evander Kane with the Edmonton Oilers, as it's unclear when he'll return to the lineup due to off-season surgery.
The belief around the league however was that he was set to return to the team just before the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but now speculation has emerged that a trade involving the veteran forward could be on the way.
Now, according to Elliotte Friedman, his full no-trade clause has now shifted to a partial one, with the veteran submitting a list of contenders that he would be willing to accept a trade to this season.
It appears the change comes due to the Oilers looking to use his LTIR space until the end of the season, but Kane wants to get back onto the ice when he's officially ready, and that could lead him to another contending team this season.
On top of that, the Oilers forward group is solid, but the team have a clear need on their blue line after struggling defensively as of late, and if the can use Kane to get a deal done for an upgrade on the blue line, it's a trade that would make perfect sense.
At this point in time, signs are pointing towards a potential Kane trade before the March 7th trade deadline, and while he's open too it, it would also make sense for both parties if he returned to the ice, so keep a close eye on Edmonton as they look to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2025.
