The Boston Bruins goaltending situation isn't what they would have hoped heading into the summer, and now they've signed Kasimir Kaskisuo as emergency depth.

After trading away Linus Ullmark, the belief was that Jeremy Swayman would lock in on a long-term deal and ultimately become the Boston Bruins starter, but things haven't gone that way. With the season less than a month away, the team have still yet to sign him, and with Joonas Korpisalo next up on the depth chart, it became clear they needed another body, and now, the team have signed a former division rival in Kasimir Kaskisuo.

The 30-year old was last seen in the NHL in 2020/21 with the Nashville Predators, tallying just two appearances at the top level, and has spent the time since with the AHL, most recently the Laval Rocket, the affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.

In those two NHL appearances, Kaskisuo allowed six goals on 75 shots, and while he's been solid since departing the NHL, it's clear he won't get an extended run unless something dramatic happens, so this move is purely for depth, with the team hoping they can find common ground with Swayman sooner, rather than later.
